Ali Sadr, Principal
Persian Cultural Dance
Academy (PCDA) was established in 1983 under the directions of
Mrs. Hengameh Ayari in San Diego. Upon the establishment of the
Iranian School of San Diego in 1988, this Academy joined forces
with the school in order to offer more opportunities to
interested students. Through the years hundreds of students of
different age groups, toddlers to adults have gone through Mrs.
Ayari's classes. In fact, from 2004 second generation of
students have registered.
Since 1984 the students of this Academy have performed
throughout San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Northern
California, as well as other states.
The students perform and represent dances from many of the
ethnicities of Iran. The elder students get the opportunity to
do choreography. The new Hip Hop mixed with the Iranian Majlisi
dance (modern) has created a new look at how two such diverse
cultures can meet in this form of art.
